Monitor Reddit To Understand Trends of Topics and Subreddits
This report aims to explore data from Reddit, a community network where people can gain insight into their interests, hobbies, and passions. From the cluttered data we collected from website, we simply selected subreddits related to Ukraine, finance, and NSFW (Not Safe at Work), based on what's trending. (We are not looking for if there is any correlations between the selected subreddits, we selected these subreddits simply because they are the most trending subreddits on Reddit during the time of this research).
The main focus is on changes in the number of current views across different time series, including daily and hourly changes from February to May. There are 12 attributes and 2,705,192 rows of data used for this file. The raw data used in this article is collected with our AI based web mining technology. Our AI based web mining technology is a technology that combines web analysis, web data crawling/scraping with artifical intelligence , data parsing and cleanning etc; the entire data collection process is executed by our AI powered intelligent system. Number of views trend for the finance subreddit and NSFW subreddit:
It's interesting that the NSFW subreddit is showing a similar trend as Finance subreddit. Buy we don't know why this is happening.
Also another mysterious point is that all the three subreddits' view count suddenly surged around Mid April 2022.
